What Is Tirzepatide And How Does It Work?
What Is Tirzepatide And How Does It Work For Weight Loss?
In this blog post we’re going to talk about what is Tirzepatide and how it works. So Tirzepatide and Semaglutide. What are they? Well, they’re both GLP-1’s. One’s a little different than the other.
So Semaglutide was the first out. So basically we’re going to compare Coca-Cola to Pepsi. So Semaglutide we’re going to call that your Coca-Cola. Been out the longest. It’s been out on the market. It’s, you know, might possibly be the better, but it’s maybe the cheaper one. But then you have your Pepsi, which is a little newer out there has a little bit different taste, has a little bit of different way that it works.
So Tirzepatide is the newest one. It does affect us a little bit different. It does potentially from the research, have a little bit more weight loss with it over a year of time. I just saw something on the news the other day. You have 15.4% more weight loss with Tirzepatide. You have 8.4% weight loss with Semaglutide. But you’re going to have the same side effects. You’re going to have the same benefits. So it’s still going to get both of them. Get rid of the noise. They both slow down your digestion so you can’t eat as much. They both get rid of that insulin resistance. You’re going to have your still potential nausea, constipation still that potential diarrhea. So you still need to make sure you’re getting your fiber. You still need to make sure that you are watching that constipation. Make sure you have miralax on hand dulcolax if you need it. Make sure you’re talking to your medical provider. If you have nausea, make sure you have the Zofran if you need that as well.
Make sure you’re not eating those simple carbs because both of them are going to make you sick if you eat simple carbs. So what are those? Anything processed to be? White? White sugar? Flour? Pasta? Rice. You want to avoid those because they are going to give you indigestion. They can make you nauseous. They can make you throw up. Stay away from those. Make sure you’re eating your protein, people. Women need 80 to 100 grams daily. Men need 100 to 120g of protein a day. Make sure you’re getting your complex carbs. Keto is not a way to sustain and live for the rest of your life, so you want to make sure you’re getting your vegetables and you’re getting your proteins.
So really, it’s important to have that well-balanced, sustainable, maintainable way to live your life. This is not a diet. It’s a way to live your life forever. You want to get that light exercise, but Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are very similar. The one can be a little bit better, but then it comes down to cost. Semaglutide. You’re seeing commonly now 3 to $400 for four shots. That’s about a month’s supply where you’re going to look at Tirzepatide, which is anywhere from six to maybe $800 for four shots a month supply. So it really depends on your budget.
At my clinic, we usually start people out on Semaglutide, see how they do, where they go, are they okay with it? Do they have side effects from it? Maybe they can’t tolerate it. Maybe they get to a standstill. Or what I’ve been seeing is people are able to eat around Semaglutide and they figure out what they can eat. So now they’re not losing weight, or maybe they’ve gained a little bit of weight, and then they aren’t losing that weight and they want to shift to the Tirzepatide. So there’s always, you know, you can you discuss it with your primary care or your provider, whoever’s prescribing it for you and figure out what’s best for you, but really try to learn what’s best for you. One might be better for you than the other, so it’s all in what you need. So just talk to your provider. That’s the best way to go about figuring out what’s best for you. And thats What is Tirzepatide!
